Andy Kehoe
"Forest Dragon"
2008
The Wonder will feature Andy Kehoe, Ben Kehoe and Hiro Kurata. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, wonder is both, “a: rapt attention or astonishment at something awesomely mysterious or new to one’s experience, b: a feeling of doubt or uncertainty.” This exhibition explores both definitions, presenting to the viewer a visual spectacle designed to captivate the imagination.
Andy Kehoe currently lives and works in the city of champions Pittsburgh, PA. In 2003, he graduated from Parsons School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. His work serves as an outlet to feelings of unrest and anxiety in this unstable world of ours. Also important is the expression of sincere human emotion without the weight of sarcasm and irony, which has become overabundant in art these days. He has done illustration work for such clients as the New York Times, The Progressive, Metropolis, The Stranger, Fantagraphics and has been included in American Illustration 24.
Ben Kehoe is also located in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Temple University in 2001 and uses his degree as source of constant self-amusement. His influences are nature, pattern-based medieval artwork, comical violence and uncomfortable situations.
Hiro Kurata was born in Osaka Japan, and grew up in Tokyo and Chicago. His main focus is in creating surrealistic moment through his paintings, using motif of baseball figures, chairs and monsters. Creation is a progress and he believes that true creation will contribute to the human society in an evolutionary way. He is currently living and working in Brooklyn, NY.
