2008
Black Maria Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of Michael Hsiung’s latest works. The exhibition, in Michael’s inimitable style is called, “A little collection of drawings, that more closely depicts a group of musical performers, who are extremely peculiar, priorly unknown, but now famous. “
Michael illustrates his own imaginative world. According to Michael, it is, “a place where creatures of fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and lullabies, which are a part of our childhood and adult culture, interact - be it warring or not. …These themes are often combined with humor commonly used by those in dysfunctional relationships.”
Michael Hsiung was born in 1976 in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. He has been showing his work since 2006 in numerous galleries: Gallery Revisited, Carmichael Gallery and of course, Black Maria Gallery. His work can also be seen in Ruby Magazine, 138 Collective Magazine, Enjoi Skateboards and Saatchi & Saatchi. Michael currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
