This event celebrated the release of the “Voodoo” picture disc, a limited edition 7" vinyl record on Dionysus Records, with two tracks by exotica and TV music legend Robert Drasnin, featuring artwork by Shag and Heather Watts. The record was officially released on August 15 at the Tiki Oasis 8 event in San Diego where Drasnin and a 12 piece orchestra performed songs from his albums "Voodoo" and "Voodoo II.”. Velvet paintings and prints by Heather Watts were a hot commodity at the weekend event where Shag was also in attendance with his family.
We were very pleased at the turnout for the La Luz event one week later where many friends battled Los Angeles’ Friday rush hour traffic to buy records, CDs, shirts, hear Drasnin and Skip Heller play a set of jazz tunes and mingle post-Oasis with Drasnin and Watts. After the event, many folks ventured to Tiki Ti for drinks and more fun. Thanks to WoohooWahini from the Tiki Central website for allowing us to use the photographs!
